I’ve been working with John for the past month or so and he’s helped me improve beyond measure. He approaches his class with not only a theoretical understanding of acting, but with techniques that help you move the concepts into your movements, which ends up in convincing, natural and effective acting. Besides the benefit of his teaching, the atmosphere his class is taught in is fun and welcoming, and the hours always seem to fly by. He’s positive, supportive, and a great mentor. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to sharpen their tools and book more jobs. :)

John Ruby, of The Storyteller’s Conservatory is my best find of 2019. I believe that first and foremost, actors need to feel comfortable in their learning environment. John knows this and allows his students to put forth their best attempt by instantly putting them at ease. To work outside of one’s box can be discomforting, but in those moments an actor finds new voices. John has a way of teaching which makes people feel comfortable, allowing his students to discover all that is available to them as actors. I look forward to John’s class every week! John is a fantastic acting teacher. He works with you from exactly where you are and creates a non-judgmental, safe environment where you can take risks. I have been studying with him for almost four months, and have seen huge progress in front of the camera. He works with varying genres of film and television, as well as commercial copy. Whether you are a veteran actor, or a new to the craft, John works with your experience level, and helps you bring your most versatile, full self to the work. I highly recommend his class. :)

I audited acting classes all over Los Angeles last spring to inform myself and explore the different methods an styles of classes. I knew the studio was a perfect fit for me immediately after my audit. John is extremely helpful, kind, and a wealth of knowledge in all genres. He focuses not just on the art, but on the business as well, helping students navigate their careers. I love the small class size and the strong sense of camaraderie with my classmates. Every class you are up on your feet and working on camera, and are sent the files after each class to review you work. I have experienced immense growth over the past several months since I started the studio. I found the Sunday class time ideal for my schedule, and even when last minute conflicts arise, John is helpful and available to schedule private sessions.
