A member of SAG/AFTRA since 1994, Charles Carpenter has been a working actor for over two decades. With recurring roles on Animal Kingdom, Bones, Brooklyn 9-9, General Hospital and Pretty Little Liars, guest-star roles on multiple TV series of every genre (multi-cam comedy, single-cam comedy and single-cam drama) and roles on feature films and web series, Charles has made a career out of being the "vulnerable hero."
Having been a commercial session director since 2000, Charles has also had a hand in shaping the performances of literally tens of thousands of actors. There is not an audition situation that he has not seen or handled in 18 years of session directing.
His teaching career began in 1996, when he started teaching under the watchful eye of Ernie Lively. He continued to teach with Ernie for several years, until session directing called for more of his time. In 2017, he rediscovered his love of teaching and joined with Shaan Sharma to grow the Shaan Sharma Acting Studio.
Currently a teacher and board member of the SAG Conservatory, as well as a writer and novelist, Charles satiates his storytelling needs in varied ways across multiple genres. His goal as a storyteller/educator is to "raise the level of discourse" in our industry by providing useful, up-to-date information in an inspiring and motivational way.
